According to The Hill, House Republicans have just announced that they will seek appropriations for the rest of 2011 that are $32 billion below current spending levels.
LP Chair Mark Hinkle commented, "The Tea Party supporters have been betrayed. These cuts are so small, you need a microscope to find them."
Hinkle continued, "The Congressional Budget Office just told us that federal spending was expected to be about $3.7 trillion this year. After the Republican cuts, it will still be about $3.7 trillion. The Republican cuts are so tiny, they disappear in the rounding error.
"Even with these cuts, the federal deficit will be over $1.4 trillion this year.
"It doesn't help that Congressional Republicans voted for more unemployment spending and ethanol subsidies last December, or that they want to keep increasing military spending. And they haven't come up with any serious cuts to entitlements.
"I think the Tea Party supporters were expecting real cuts, not this nonsense. We tried to warn Tea Party supporters last year that the Republicans were just trying to fool them again. It looks like we were right.
"Oh, I'm sure we'll hear Republicans say they're just getting started, and more cuts are coming...just not yet. But I hope the Tea Party supporters and other fiscal conservatives wake up and smell the deficits. Our children are going to drown in debt, and the Republicans aren't going to save them. Republicans are part of the problem, not the solution.
"Tea Party supporters and other fiscal conservatives should support Libertarians, not Republicans. Libertarians would make dramatic cuts in spending, and if angry Republicans and Democrats threatened to shut down the government instead, Libertarians would say 'Fine.'"

Rand Paul Urges Senate GOP to Ban Earmarks and Push for Balanced Budget Amendment

African American Likely Voters' Support for Tea Party is Significant in Recent Poll
/PRNewswire/ -- PJTV's Tea Party TV today unveiled the results of a special Tea Party poll, which revealed that about one-in-three (32%) African Americans who are likely voters would vote for a candidate supported by the Tea Party movement.
"Questions of racism within the Tea Party have been raised for months now," said Vik Rubenfeld, PJTV's Polling Director. "Our survey found that more than one-in-three African Americans support the movement. Moreover, the data revealed that 32 percent are also likely to vote for a congressional candidate whom the Tea Party supports."
"PJTV's Tea Party poll shows that, for many black voters, race no longer serves as a rationale for supporting policies that undermine their economic interests," said Joe Hicks, PJTV's host of the Minority Report and a former Executive Director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. "Democrats and leftists have attempted to define the Tea Party movement as a collection of angry white bigots. However, the PJTV poll of black voters shows the wheels on the race card bus are beginning to fall off."
Poll Highlights
* 35 percent of likely voters who are African American support the Tea Party movement and 17 percent support the movement strongly.
* 38 percent of African American respondents who support the Tea Party endorse the movement privately. 34 percent publicly support the Tea Party.
* 32 percent of African American respondents are more likely to vote for a congressional candidate who is supported by the Tea Party, including 14 percent who are very likely.
Methodology
PJTV has been conducting weekly Tea Party tracking polls of 1,000 likely voters since August 2, using Pulse Opinion Research. However, today they presented a special analysis spanning eight weeks from August 2 to September 19 which represents 543 likely voters who are African American. The margin of sampling error on this special survey is +/-4 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

Study of Tea Party Activists Reveals Movement's Level of Momentum
/PRNewswire -- An extensive new study of the Tea Party movement released today finds that the activists involved grew in number and enthusiasm in recent months. The Sam Adams Alliance report, The Next Wave: A Surf Report, also found that among new activists, a smaller number identify themselves as Republicans, with 50 percent choosing a different label for their political affiliation. The Next Wave report, announced at the American Legislative Exchange Council's annual conference, is the first of three reports studying Tea Party activists that will be released by Sam Adams Alliance before the November elections. Among newcomers to the movement, which the study identifies as "Next Wave" activists, 74 percent said the movement is "gaining active supporters," and 66 percent indicated that the movement is "more enthusiastic" than it was before the passage of health care reform.
"We found that Tea Party activists, above all, view themselves as both "restoring? and "forward- thinking,' which is an interesting tension as they continue to make their mark on the political landscape," said Anne Sorock, the study's research director. "They must find a way to preserve the best of what their America means while making their movement relevant to today's challenges."
The report also reveals that both Next Wave and Early Adopters are dropping their affiliation with the Republican label. Among the Next Wave activists polled, there was a near 30-point drop in their affiliation with the Republican party since becoming involved in the Tea Party movement.
Sam Adams Alliance's research shows that 47 percent changed their political affiliation to
"Independent/Unaffiliated," 20 percent changed to "Other," 20 percent to "Tea Party," and 13
percent to "Libertarian."
The report also revealed that 63.6 percent of Next Wave activists were recruited by friends, compared to only 37.5 percent of Early Adopters, who were more likely to be recruited by media personalities.
Other findings of the study include:
-- 89 percent of Tea Party activists have been recruiting new people into
the movement.
-- 44 percent of Next Wave activists said they were uninvolved or rarely
involved with politics prior to their Tea Party involvement.
-- 22 percent of Next Wave Activists identified as Independents, 10
percent as "Tea
-- Party."
-- Prior to becoming active in the movement, 74 percent of Next Wave
activists identified as Republican, 20 percent as Independent.
-- Sarah Palin was the leading choice for the 2012 presidential elections
with 23 percent, though 19 other choices were mentioned.

Libertarians question Republican participation in Tea Parties
Wes Benedict, Executive Director of the Libertarian Party, issued the following statement today:
"Many Libertarians around America are planning to go to Tea Party rallies tomorrow. I also expect lots of Republican activists and politicians to be there. But frankly, I don't think those Republicans belong there. The people participating in these rallies are saying 'There's too much government spending,' but Republicans, decade after decade, have supported massive increases in government spending. During the George W. Bush administration, Republicans in Congress supported spending trillions of dollars on foreign wars, a massive Medicare expansion, and banker bailouts. Republicans doubled the budget and doubled the federal debt. Why can't the Republican Party just admit that it loves big government?
"If I thought there would be many Democrats at these rallies, I'd criticize them too. However, I think it's safe to say that they'll be few and far between.
"Many Libertarians are enthusiastic about the Tea Parties, but many are not. Many Libertarians are concerned that participating causes us to get lumped in with conservatives and Republicans. In our online poll at LP.org, 28% so far say that 'The Tea Parties have become too Republican-flavored.'
"Libertarians are often frustrated when the press characterizes us as 'right-wing' or 'conservative.' Although we certainly support reducing government spending, which most conservatives also claim to support, we differ from right-wingers on many issues: for example, we oppose foreign interventionism, support immigrant-friendly policies, oppose overreaction to terrorism, and oppose the War on Drugs.
"Libertarians are neither left-wing nor right-wing. We're in a different place on the political map, as illustrated by the popular World's Smallest Political Quiz.
"Some of the people in the tax day Tea Party crowds will be right-wingers, and some will be Libertarians. For those Tea Partiers who support Libertarian principles of very limited government spending, government tolerance on social issues, and a non-interventionist foreign policy, the Libertarian Party is ready to welcome them with open arms."

Judicial Watch Sponsors National Tea Party Convention

Tea Party Nation Would Like to Announce the Following Efforts and Status of the Nationwide TEA Party Convention
PRNewswire - First, we are pleased to announce that the convention has sold out and we now have a waiting list which we will continue to try to clear as opportunity presents.
In this light, we have had numerous requests for press passes and the resulting expected coverage. However, as we have set expectations that this is a working convention, we have tried not to make it a media event.
In fact, Tea Party Nation has received hundreds of requests for press credentials to cover this convention. Everyone from a small town newspaper in Iowa to Fox News has asked for press credentials. We have had requests from Canada, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Croatia and Japan. We have been hard pressed to accommodate all of these requests and do not have the space or resources to support the entirety of the press corp. Indeed, we have asked the hotel if they would be willing to provide a press room during the convention.
However, given these practical limitations, we have approved the following press organizations:

The National Tea Party Convention
Last summer, our founder, Judson Phillips, approached the Advisory Board about a need for the Tea Party movement to move beyond holding rallies. At this time, the Tea Party Nation Advisory Board discussed the need for a Tea Party Convention. We envisioned a convention where delegates from the various Tea Party groups could gather, network, gain training and discuss the advancement of the movement. In this light, we began development of the plan resulting in the current incarnation of the event.
Certainly, we are not professional event planners. We have been most appreciative of the many members, volunteers and professionals who have helped us bring this vision to fruition. These people have managed a tremendous task and put a convention together in a matter of weeks that normally takes a year to plan.
As stated, the convention is now sold out. There is an extensive waiting list. We have delegates coming from Maine to California and as far away as Hawaii. And as of this morning, we invited RNC Chairman Michael Steele and DNC Chairman, Tim Kaine to come and have a dialogue with the attendees. We are awaiting a response and are looking forward to an excellent event with the excitement of the attendees, leadership and speakers. We are grateful for the overwhelming response and appreciate the positive results expected from this convention.
In the end, we appreciate the fact that differences of opinion exist, but our leadership and our volunteers are committed to the successful conclusion of this convention. We appreciate the interest of all those associated with this event.

However, it is the policy of Tea Party Nation not to focus on past challenges, but to stay focused on the task of advancing the conservative cause and defeating liberalism.
With that in mind, we will not be making any comments regarding former members.
The National Tea Party Convention
Last summer, our founder, Judson Phillips, approached the Advisory Board about a need for the Tea Party movement to move beyond holding rallies. At this time, the Tea Party Nation Advisory Board discussed the need for a Tea Party Convention. We envisioned a convention where delegates from the various Tea Party groups could gather, network, gain training and discuss the advancement of the movement. In this light, we began development of the plan resulting in the current incarnation of the event.
Certainly, we are not professional event planners. We have been most appreciative of the many members, volunteers and professionals who have helped us bring this vision to fruition. These people have managed a tremendous task and put a convention together in a matter of weeks that normally takes a year to plan.
As stated, the convention is now sold out. There is an extensive waiting list. We have delegates coming from Maine to California and as far away as Hawaii. And as of this morning, we invited RNC Chairman Michael Steele and DNC Chairman, Tim Kaine to come and have a dialogue with the attendees. We are awaiting a response and are looking forward to an excellent event with the excitement of the attendees, leadership and speakers. We are grateful for the overwhelming response and appreciate the positive results expected from this convention.
In the end, we appreciate the fact that differences of opinion exist, but our leadership and our volunteers are committed to the successful conclusion of this convention. We appreciate the interest of all those associated with this event.

Nationwide Tea Party Leaders Call on Obama to Live up to Meeting Promise
(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eighteen national leaders of the Tea Party protest movement, which has drawn the participation of hundreds of thousands of Americans over the past few weeks, today responded to President Barack Obama’s invitation to meet with members of the Tea Party movement to discuss solutions to the nation’s fiscal challenges.
Speaking at a townhall meeting in Arnold, Missouri this past Wednesday, Obama said: “So, you know, when you see — those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I'm not very popular and you see folks waving tea bags around, let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we're going to stabilize Social Security.”
The national leadership team of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition, one of several organizations that form the grassroots ecosystem of the Tea Party movement, this afternoon faxed a letter to the White House accepting the President’s invitation for such a discussion. “The Tea Party movement has grown because millions of Americans believe the government is heading in the wrong direction and their government is not only not listening to them, but ignoring them. We need to have a serious, public discussion of these issues. We are ready to have that discussion with you and look forward to your response,” the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition leaders wrote in their letter to Obama.
“We have noticed there often appears to be a great divide between President Obama’s political rhetoric and the political reality of his policies and actions,” said Michael Johns, one of the eighteen signators of the letter. “When the President says he is ‘happy to have a serious conversation’ with us about the fiscal state of this nation, we think the next question is when and where, and we hope to have an answer to that promptly so we can present concrete, workable policy ideas,” he said.
Nationwide Tea Party Coalition leader and letter signator Dana Loesch, who led a protest of hundreds during Obama’s Missouri visit this past Wednesday, said: “We didn't stand out in the street by the hundreds at the townhall meeting simply to create sound bites and stock footage for the news circuit any more than the Sons of Liberty dumped tea into Boston Harbor to become an entry in history books." “We stood because we want to propose an alternative, and dare I say better, suggestion as to how fiscal matters should be handled. We welcome an open discussion,” she said.

Conservative Group Pioneers Mobile Petition Drive at Nationwide Tax Day TEA Party Protests
Let Freedom Ring, a national conservative advocacy organization, is unveiling the next generation in grassroots advocacy technology in hundreds of American cities during the Nationwide Tax Day TEA Party rallies scheduled for April 15th.
Let Freedom Ring is utilizing mobile technology in more than 1,000 American cities to allow concerned citizens to interact with their government and express their displeasure with reckless spending, the ballooning federal budget deficit, and increased taxation. Protesters will have the opportunity to join up, sign, and send a "mobile petition" with their cell phones to President Obama, Treasury Secretary Geithner, and their respective Senators and members of Congress. TEA Party attendees must simply text the words "TEAPARTY" to 74362 on their mobile phones
to be heard by their representatives in government.

Another parking deck is at the corner on East 4th Avenue at the corner of Broad Street. A large new parking lot is on West 3rd Street at the west end of the John Ross Memorial Bridge (pedestrian bridge) its a quick and scenic walk across to the area of Opi's Waterfront Grill parking lot.

Signs: Please make and bring your own signs if possible. We will have a limited number available and some facilities to make them. Poster board no larger than "36 X 36" is allowed. Wooden handles or any materials other than cardboard are not allowed by ordinance.
Costumes/Dress: Some folks will be wearing "revolutionary war" or Indian type attire. Remember the Boston Tea Party was the beginning of the Revolution with a few patriots dressed in Indian attire.
Volunteers: Please contact us if you wish to volunteer to help, to volunteer to speak, to have your child volunteer to speak, or to read from patriotic "Founding Father" quotes. We also need someone to do high quality video to insert on You Tube, web sites that are discussing the Tea Parties, and other venues.

Atlanta Tea Party Info
Where and When? Atlanta State Capitol 206 Washington St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30334-9007 , Recommended Arrival time 6-7 p.m.
What to expect at the Tea Party? The purpose is to let Congress and the President know there are many, many Americans across the country that are fed up with bailouts, large budgets, and high taxes. The way the rally will help us achieve this purpose is by having multiple events happening across the country on the same day. Currently there are 245 events planned and more are being added. By having so many people gather across the country hammering home the exact same messages, it will get Media coverage and Congress will see that there are everyday, ordinary citizens who are fed up with fiscal irresponsibility. There will be protesters with signs promoting our message. We will also have a line up of speakers including everyday citizens, event organizers, and elected officials. Sean Hannity, host of Fox News Hannity’s America, will broadcast live from the event.

Why is the Tea Party in downtown and not in the suburbs? To send this message loud and clear we need to have excellent media coverage and very large crowds across the country. The message to be sent to Washington is to “cut the pork and repeal taxes”. If there are 1,000 people in downtown and a few hundred at each event in various metro counties, we will not have the same impact or the same media coverage as we will if we have several thousand people in one place for the media to take photos and video.
Is there carpooling available? Carpooling is provided on a voluntarily basis within neighborhood groups and friends although it is recommended that Marta be utilized as it goes right to the capitol. Due to time constraints, there will not be a kickoff party in Fayette county as many will be working around busy schedules to attend the tea party. The most efficient transportation methods are Shannon Mall park and ride or the College Park Marta station.
Is there something planned for those who work? In Fayette County, the arrival time being between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. will allow those wishing to attend the time to do so.
Do you need donations? How can I give money? Thank you for your generosity. Go to the Atlanta Tea Party website(http://atlantateaparty.net) and click on the Donate Button on the sidebar on the right of the screen. Donations will be used to pay for staging, screens, projectors, banners, and other details necessary for the event.
Is there anywhere I can purchase Atlanta Tea Party merchandise? We are adding an Atlanta Tea Party store to the website shortly. Please check http://atlantateaparty.net for a link to the store.
I would like to be included in the planning of the Tea Party. How can I be included? How can I volunteer? While the Nationwide Tea Party Movement has official sponsors and City Chairmen, this is a grassroots movement. Any thoughts, concerns, or suggestions you have will be considered and addressed. Please email those to us or call me directly (404-326-0936). Additionally, we have weekly conference calls on Monday nights at 7:30 to discuss the planning of the events and for attendees to volunteer for various tasks. If you are able to attend the conference call, please email me with RSVP Monday 7:30 in the subject line and I will send you the call in phone number.
What speakers are lined up? Currently, there are 4 confirmed speakers including: Congressman Tom Price; Dave Ryan, President of American Solutions; Joel Aaron, host of Sound Bytes on WGKA 920 AM; and Eric von Haessler, co-host of the Regular Guys on Rock 100.5. As additional speakers are lined up, we will add them to the website (http://atlantateaparty.net).
What should we put on protest signs for the event? We will be listing sign suggestions on our websit (http://atlantateaparty.net) shortly. If you have additional suggestions, you can add them to the comments under that particular post. Protest signs that are not in line with theme of the event will be asked to be removed at the demonstration. Such signs include but not limited to: campaigning, racially inappropriate slogans, anything that suggests violence or unlawful activity, and/or partisan slogans.
How can I volunteer?I do not have much time to volunteer before the event. What small thing can I do to help right now? There are several small things you can do to help with the Atlanta Tea Party. Send an email out to all your like minded friends, family, and neighbors inviting them to attend the Tea Party with you. You direct them to the Atlanta Tea Party (http://atlantateaparty.net) website for up to date details. Use shoe polish to paint you car windows with the atlantateaparty.net. This way people you pass on the street know about the website. Purchase a t-shirt from our store (http://atlantateaparty.net) and wear it as you run errands.
Are there additional events planned after April 15th? Are there going to be any Tea Parties on a Saturday There are tentatively 10 total Tea Parties that will take place between February, 2009 and Election Day, 2010 but that is not set in stone.
